Quartz Work Surfaces are fast becoming the worktop of choice for kitchens. Most people still do not understand the difference between granite worktops and quartz worktops. Granite is a natural rock, volcanically formed in the earth, quarried out in blocks and sliced into sheets. Granite is porous and requires maintenance but offers natural beauty at an affordable price. Quartz work surfaces are made from man made material, using over 90% natural quartz minerals, ground into small crystals, which when mixed with polymer resin can be cast into sheets of quartz. Quartz is virtually non-porous, very hard wearing and comes in a vast array of colours and styles. Due to quartz being completely sealed during production, this material is by design anti-bacterial.

kitchen worktops granite quartz or laminate
If you are looking for kitchen worktops you will probably be looking for granite worktops, quartz worktops or laminate worktops.
Laminate worktops are the cheapest option, but will be easily damaged, scratched or chip.
Granite Worktops are quite a bit more expensive than laminate, but the benefits of granite over laminate are extreme. Granite being a solid natural material, one of the hardest building materials available will be tough and long lasting, although you should bear in mind that granite will require a little maintenance from time to time.
Quartz Worktops or composite quartz as they are also know, will be as tough if not tougher than granite, but will not require any routine maintenance as they are pore free. This means that it is near impossible to stain this material, and scratch resistance is as good as granite worktops. Quartz worktops are available in many colours and styles to suit nearly any decor

Totem Quartz Worktops will be on display at both of Granite Care Ltd’s showrooms within the coming weeks, with a complate range of Stella colours. Stella is the brand name for Totem Quartz with Mirror chips and sparkles. This Sparkly quartz is currently the material of choice for consumers up and down the whole of the UK. Granite Care will be stocking white, red, grey, black, cream and brown Stella colours in the coming few weeks, and at their new Haydock Showroom in Merseyside, they will have complete kitchen worktop displays of the brown called “Stella Marron” and The cream called “Stella Cream”.
Granite Care are the only official UK stockist and distributor for the Totem Quartz Brand, and have an exclusive arrangement with the world renowned manufacturer. Totem Quartz is only made on Bretton Spa. licenced equipment, giving exceptional quality, and guaranteed production.
