Care of Composite Worktops
Wondering how to care for Composite i.e. Quartz Worktops? Granite Care can help you out.
Quartz is a man-made material, meaning it is manufactured from different but graded Granites and Resins. When being manufactured, the surface of Quartz is sealed completely due to the manufacturing process, leaving it free of natural pits and pores which means there is not as much cleaning involved in everyday maintenance whereas it would take a lot longer to clean and maintain with Granite.
To care for your Composite (Quartz) Worktops, you will not need to seal your Worktops , however your Natural Granite Worktops from Granite Care will be readily sealed when being fabricated by Granite Care meaning you will only need to seal your Natural Granite Worktops one year after installation.
Why is sealing my Granite Worktops important?
Sealing the Worktops Surface is important because this will prevent any liquids or food-stuffs from soaking into the material which will cause long-term damage to your Kitchen Worktops, and promote bacteria. Damage is not what you want when you have spent so much on your Worktops!
Whenever you have a spill of anything on your Worktops, it is best to clean up the mess straight away. This will lessen the chance of any problems occurring in either the short-term or the long-term.
Recommended Granite Sealants available at Granite Care can be purchased.
How Do I Remove Water Marks from my Granite Worktops?
Getting Water Marks on your new Granite Worktops you may think can be one of the worst things to happen to your Kitchen. Even though Water Marks are not anything to fear, they can be utterly frustrating to look at.
Granite Care offers some advice on how to get rid of these.
One thing to remember is to never use white vinegar to try and get the water marks off! Vinegar is an acidic substance and you should try to never put any acidic substances, even a spill of vinegar onto your Worktops because if it is left on, it could cause long-term damage to the Granite.
The method that Granite Care suggests is to use some Fairy Liquid. Put a small amount of this onto a sponge such as a Scotch-Brite Sponge, diluted with warm water and then gently scrub the Worktop Surface where the water mark is. After this has dried off, your water marks should have disappeared or at least started to. Hopefully you will have some success.
The best thing to do is maintain your Granite Worktops so that whenever anything is spilled or goes onto them, the substance is cleaned off not long after so there is no real risk of short-term or long-term damage.
Maintain your Worktops correctly and they will last you a lifetime.
