Sparkly Quartz is the new look for Kitchen Worktops
People often enquire about sparkly worktops. The term Sparkly or Sparkley relates to what we call mirror chips.
Quartz is a man made product made from real quartz chippings, granite chippings, mirror chips and a resin to bind it all together. The mirror chips are tiny fragments of glass mirror that reflect the light, both ambient light, and natural light. This gives the impression of a diamond like sparkle, giving the look of sparkly worktops.
We have red sparkly, blue sparkly, black sparkly, green sparkly, pink sparkly, cream sparkly and other more expressive colours of quartz worktops such as purple, orange and apple.
Granite Care recommend Compac Quartz as we have found this manufacturer to be one of the best in the business. To acheive the high quality worktops that Granite Care wish to supply, we have to begin with a high quality material. The other reasons for choosing Compac Quartz are their efficient supply chain, meaning most colours are carried in uk stock, either at the Granite Care Wigan Granite and Quartz Warehouse in Lancashire, or by Compac in Wakefield, Yorkshire.

Granite worktops should i choose template and fit or cut on site?
Granite Care was originally a cut on site company. Mr. Stephen Smith, founder of granite care is a time served stone mason with 25 years experience, and a family heritage in stone masonry. When he used to arrive with his apprentice to do your cut on site worktops he was always striving to achieve a factory class perfect finish, with the convenience of a 1 day on site service. He soon became a victim of his own success, with far too many orders and was booked 4 months in advance as he could only complete 1 kitchen per day. He found he was working 100 hours a week, and was physically burning out.
From this realisation was born Granite Care Ltd, a bespoke factory with all the very best, state of the art machinery. Within months premises were secured in his native area of Wigan in Lancashire, and bespoke machinery was on order from the finest Italian manufacturers. The company was formed and immediately began producing 8-10 sets of kitchen tops per week, from the superior quality of what’s known in the trade as “Scants”. Scants are large sheets of granite usually around 3 meters long, and 1.8 meters high. The whole process of cutting and polishing, and soon after CnC ( Computer numerical controlled ) polished sink cutouts and drainer grooves, had become completely under the company’s control, rather than outsourcing.
The company adopted the Bespoke Template and Fit system, this means a professional template team arrives to make timber templates to fit the kitchen perfectly. The templates are transfered to the factory, and effectively copied onto the sheets of granite. All the production work was able to be produced and closely monitored, under one roof, in the new factory. This benefited both the customer and company greatly. From the customers point of view, all work was produced by the same professional operatives, and quality controlled by Mr Smith, in their factory. From the company’s perspective this strict control, immediately impacted the increased amount of referrals the company began to receive. The company began to grow rapidly using this system. Extra staff were needed, an it became apparent that Granite Care was expanding beyond all expectation.
Through sustained growth and increased investment, increased staffing training and quality control, coupled with the aquisition of adjoining premises, the company now boasts an impressive £1million bespoke full time workshop, 9 full time and 4 part time staff, and an unequalled 2000 ft2 showroom with some 30 colours on display. They produce 12-20 sets of Granite and Quartz worktops per week.
Stephen now firmly believes that “the template and fit system, and the all in one service, under one roof, from one company is the founding reason for this success.”
“Templating allows us to spot changes to the fitted kitchen and allows greater flexibility with the production, it guarantees a truly first class fit, and offers peace of mind, and assurance to the customers”
Granite Care Ltd now firmly believe that this template and fit system is the absolute very best for the customer, and the company, and it’s staff, therefore they do not do the cut on site work any more. This way the customer will get a far superior finish and fit, the company will continue to grow, and the staff have better health and safety policies, controlled by the management structure.
“The cut on site service became too restrictive, and was heavily dependent on my personal involvement, I have seen other companies attempts at the cut on site service, which was poor to say the least. I can see that this system is getting a bad name, as lots of non qualified people jump on the bandwagon, and try to make a quick buck. This is not what we are about, and never have been, and our success firmly backs up that argument” said Mr Smith.
Granite Care Ltd continues to grow, and continually reports higher percentages of referral and recommendation work, coupled with existing customers having moved house, and wanting the same worktops again.
London Granite and Quartz Worktops
Granite Care are heavily committed to providing a first class bespoke templating and fitting service to all our London customers. As one of the nations leading granite and quartz worktop suppliers Granite Care provide an extraordinary 3 day turnaround service for our London Granite Worktop customers. This means that if we template your worktops on Monday we will Install Granite and Quartz worktops on Thursday or Friday, the same week. This means that on a new kitchen install, the kitchen fitter should still be present on site to do the final connections and plumbing, and there should be no reason to require temporary worktops. Dont be fooled by some companies all in 1 day service, this means your granite will be cut and hand polished in your garden, rather than in our bespoke £1million factory, and will only offer an inferior finish. Our quality granite is of the highest standard and finish available using state of the art Italian Granite machinery. All our worktops are cut from large sheets of matching solid 1st choice premium quality granite, not inferior uncalibrated mismatched strips, imported in boxes from mass production sites in third world countries.
